Government

The right wants a smaller government. Be careful what you wish for. The smaller the government the easier for the rich to control it.

Democracy may not be the answer but without it we may not be able to ask the question.

Those who think that government shouldn't be part of the solution are part of the problem.

  1. I am just saying...let me be the ruler of the world for 4 years. I'll sort it all out!

    1. Go for it. Where are you taking a government class? Sounds interesting.

  3. I totally agree with number 2! I really wish we could completely clean house in the government and start fresh.

    1. And give the job of president to an honest woman. I nominate Terry of My Journey With Candida. Women know how to budget, strategy is their middle name, they know how to sway people without being demanding, they are excellent at organizing and appointing and a thousand other things.
Why is it that so many countries have/have had women as leaders but Americans think only a man can lead this country.

    2. We had a female President years ago. I don't know why the US hasn't had one yet.

Now I'm not going to say that my country ultimately went to hell in a hand basket while she was in office, but it did. She really wasn't all that good with the whole "let's not spend too much money" thing.

    3. There are some people in the Government that are good. What we need to do is clean house with the lobbies. Government funded elections, where everyone has the same amount of money, and then get rid of the lobbies. Also not allow government officials to work in those private sectors for 10 years at at least. That would be a start.

    4. Anne, the US will have one and I think soon. I don't think it's gender as much as the right person. I think Hillary will be our next President. If the Republicans ever let her do anything is another question. I'm getting to you guys a day late because I was feeling a bit under the weather from my trip to the Maryland book fair. As I said, today in the next batch of comments, I was with an FBI agent, the one who set up the Anti Terrorist unit in the CIA and an investigative reporter out of DC last night. Boy did they open up my eyes. They had never met before, they were both friends of mine. But when they got to talking it was mind blowing. I could have listened all night. Really really smart guys. I have to find this reporter's site and put it up somewhere. They were in total agreement. My FBI friend was the one who found the photo that proved that the Iraqi agent never met with the Al Qaeda. And those photo were presented to Cheney who ignored them. Just about the whole agency knew it was bullshit but because of some obscure law weren't allowed to speak. The Investigative reporter said, (he was with NBC then) that most of the news media didn't speak up because they'd either be fired or lose access to government officials. And the war was fought not because Bush wanted to revenge his father, it was money and a plan that was hatched by Cheney's neocon cronies and radical element in Israel. Super interesting stuff.

    1. Me to. What a second I wrote them, so I guess I should agree. I think.

  5. I do like number 2. But I think that the rich are controlling the government, no matter how big it is.

    1. They would try to but we can take steps to make their grasp less of a stranglehold. Elections should be government funded and lobbyists should be banned from stepping into the halls of congress or any place near our government officials. I realize that part would be impossible.

  6. Kickbacks and so called donations are what controls everything, nothing but puppets in government.

    1. Yes, you're right. If you want to read a great book read Naomi Klien's the Shock Doctrine. It's a total mind opener and the best political book ever written, in my opinion.

    1. I not size that matters, at least with the government. But size does matter with the electorate. We all need to vote! And get involved in the primaries so that the fringe is not choosing who we vote for.

  8. Plus the larger it is the more people there are to buy

    1. The more their is to buy makes it harder for them. We all need to vote and participate.
